A diverse set of local speakers will discuss ideas to advance Memphis and the world at the annual TEDxMemphis conference next month. TEDxMemphis is a locally organized take on the popular TED Talk programs, which are short speeches that can cover a range of topics.

“Foresight” is the theme of this year’s event, which takes place Feb. 22 at Crosstown Arts Theater. The 19-speaker lineup will share ideas on fighting poverty, juvenile justice reform, health care outcomes and more, according to a news release.

The speakers include director of hit Hollywood comedies Tom Shadyac, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare CEO and president Michael Ugwueke and Archie Moss Jr., Shelby County Schools' youngest principal.

“This TEDx conference is all about embracing the responsibility for our future,” said Anna Mullins Ellis, president and CEO of New Memphis, the nonprofit that helps organize the event. “We are excited to bring another brilliant lineup of speakers to spark conversation, and hopefully inspire collaboration and action.”
